MarketLeap Secures $8M Series A to Expand AI-Powered D2C Ecommerce Platform

MarketLeap, a platform designed to simplify direct-to-consumer ecommerce through AI-driven automation, has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Smedvig Ventures, with participation from Expon Capital, Motier Ventures, and business angels, including former executives from Amazon, SoftBank, and Unilever. The funding will accelerate platform development, support US expansion, and grow the team.

Addressing the Challenges of Global Ecommerce

Ecommerce sales are projected to reach $8 trillion by 2027, yet most independent brand owners struggle to scale beyond their home markets. 90% of sellers generating over $500,000 in revenue make more than 80% of their sales in a single market. MarketLeap’s AI-powered platform enables sellers to expand internationally by automating marketplace operations, integrating with logistics and compliance partners, and providing real-time insights.

Founded in 2022 by Mamoun Benkirane and Mekki Mouaddeb, both former Amazon and Jumia executives, MarketLeap was created in response to the challenges faced by sellers looking to expand globally. Many ecommerce tools are either too complex or fail to address the real operational barriers brands face.

“We are seller-obsessed,” says CEO Mamoun Benkirane. MarketLeap removes the complexity of international ecommerce operations, allowing brands to focus on products and strategy while we handle logistics, compliance, and data.

Strong Growth and AI-Driven Innovation

Since its $2.6 million Seed Round, MarketLeap has grown its customer base by 340% year-on-year. The company has expanded its AI capabilities, integrating large language models for automated inventory management, pricing, and third-party logistics partnerships. The platform now processes more data in one day than it did in its first year.

The Series A funding will support further automation, improved real-time analytics, and deeper marketplace integration. The company is also expanding in the US, helping American brands navigate the complexities of selling in Europe. New offices in Madrid and New York will support this growth.

Investor Confidence in MarketLeap’s Model

Marketplaces are growing, but so is the complexity of selling successfully,” says Joe Knowles, Partner at Smedvig Ventures. “MarketLeap’s AI-powered service offers more than an agency ever could, making international expansion seamless for brands.

With this funding, MarketLeap is positioned to become the go-to platform for D2C brands looking to scale efficiently across global marketplaces.
